ARRIVING IN THE BLOCK
Upon your arrival in the operating room, a second check of your file will be carried out jointly by the anesthesiologist, the surgeon and the nursing staff of the room concerning the type of operation, the side operated, your identity, your allergies, wearing dentures and fasting etc.
A loco-regional anaesthetic may be performed before entering the operating room in a room dedicated to this activity if the anesthesia protocol provides for it.

 

THE INTERVENTION
The anesthesiologist or a nurse specialized in anesthesia will be present during the operation they will ensure the maintenance of vital functions, anticipate post-operative treatments, including analgesics and ensure good operating conditions for surgery.
Blood-saving procedures will be used if necessary to reduce the risk of transfusion (recovery of per-operative bleeding and restitution).
An antibio-prophylaxis will be initiated before the surgical procedure and then continued according to the protocols in force.

A heating system will fight hypothermia per and post-operative.
The analgesia of the first 24 hours will be ensured, among other things, either by the realization of a loco-regional anesthesia or by the infiltration of local anesthetics in the operating site during the operation.

 

POST INTERVENTIONAL RECOVERY ROOM
At the end of the operation you will be taken to the so-called “wake-up” room to be monitored for about an hour.
You will then be assisted by experienced nurses.
Special attention will be given to the treatment of pain, hypothermia and the prevention of nausea and vomiting now exceptional.

 

THE OPERATIONAL SUITES
In most cases the infusions will be removed a few hours after your return to the room and replaced by treatments per os.
The early emergence will be insured the same day by the nursing staff or by the physiotherapists, according to the prescriptions of the surgeon.
Additional radiological or biological assessments may be prescribed.
Feeding will also begin in the first few hours after surgery.
You will have regular visits from the surgeon and anesthesiologist during the hospitalization.
